Aimee McClain returns home to Point Peace, Georgia, hoping for a fresh start. She wants to find a new treatment for her seven-year-old son’s Aplastic Anemia. After the devastating loss of her parents and her husband, Aimee can’t lose someone else she loves, but as a single mom with limited resources, she’s running out of time and her son’s life is at stake.

Ever since being behind the wheel the night his best friend died, Seth Garrett works hard to help people. He is a coach and a teacher, he helps his parents, he feels like his debt of sorry will never be paid. At first, Aimee is just another person who Seth can help, but soon he realizes her trouble is a lot more than fixing an old car.

The Kevin Ridley Walk/Run, an event Seth started ten years earlier to honor his best friend, has garnered statewide attention and continues to raise money for underprivileged youth. When Aimee’s family asks Seth to help her organize a bone marrow drive and fundraiser for her son, he jumps at the chance to help the pretty widow and her adorable child.

Aimee, fighting to make ends meet in the face of Luke’s illness and single parenthood, doesn’t like this interception with Seth. He may not remember her now, but Aimee knows in time the truth of Seth’s accident will come out. How can they continue a relationship, build a new life together, with this between them?

Exerpt:
“Luke needs a bone marrow transplant, but currently, we don’t know who in the world could be a match for him. It’s Luke’s best chance to beat this.” Curling her arms about her waist, she stood and walked to the window. Part of the Atlanta skyline was in view, though many of the buildings were lost in the fog. “Granny would kill me.”
Seth slowly crossed the room. “Pardon? I didn’t catch that.”
She shook her head, though a curious smile held. “Yesterday, at your parent’s house, I was going to speak with you about helping me organize a bone marrow drive for Luke. I know you must be busy and I understand if—”
“I’d love to help.”
She let out a huge breath and walked toward him. “Everyone says your race for Kevin has been very successful.”
He tried to turn a horrible event into something positive for others. Helping Aimee expedite a search for someone who could help Luke was a request he would dive into head first. Ideas had come to him over the years of handling Kevin’s race that didn’t quite fit. Now, those ideas may be useful for Luke’s cause. “I’ll handle as much detail for you as you need.”
With a quick nod, she turned toward the window. Her fist brushed her nose. When her shoulders began trembling, Seth reached out. “Hey, it’s okay. It’s going to be okay.”
God, he hoped everything would be okay. He’d no idea about Luke’s illness or what Aimee was going through, but surely, everything would work out. As his fingers brushed her shoulder, her tremble cascaded through him, but he didn’t back off. “Aimee, your focus should be on Luke. Don’t worry about anything.”
Her eyes glistened as she looked up at him. He brushed her cheek when a tear escaped. Then, she came to him, leaning against him. He rubbed slow circles over her back the way he would have comforted his sister, except holding Aimee was different.
